Welcome to Assessment Methods in Addictions Counseling, a Masters level course for the Master in Addiction counseling Psychology. I am please to instruct you in this course, which will be a vital course for the remainder of your studies in the Masters Program.
This Course covers an approach for assessing and treating alcohol and drug-abusing/dependent patients. Provides the concepts and methods families need to promote and maintain recovery.
This course is a four-semester hour course. The course is allotted up to ten weeks and all requirements must be completed up to the ten weeks. If you end the course before, that is fine.
There is one textbook required for this course.
Book 1: Counseling the Alcohol and Drug Dependent Client: A Practical Approach by Robert J. Craig. Publisher: Allyn & Bacon, Inc. Published Date: June 2003, 1st Edition. ISBN # 0205359167.
You will have one final exam for this course which must be taken by the tenth week of this course. It will be composed of 50 questions which will be multiple choice or true/false in nature. You are to do a 4-page summary for each chapter. The summary is to be APA style using at least three sources from the book/or chapter. Finally you are to do a Case Study of someone they are assessing for treatment in whatever addiction they choose.
91-100% = A
81-90% = B
71-80% = C
Below 70% = Failed
