You must successfully complete AM: 500 through 685. This is a self-paced, independent study course, with one-on-one faculty mentoring. There are two textbooks required for this course. You are expected to choose your books.
Welcome to the Graduate Project in Aviation Management, a course that is designed to increase your knowledge base in Aviation Management issues, current events, and refine your writing, organization and presentation skills.
In fulfillment of the assignments this course will provide focused study of Aviation Management issues you identify as important to your development as a manager. This course is designed to incorporate your own experiences and observations regarding your Aviation Management knowledge and how you apply the concepts you've studied into the practical world of the Aviation Industry. Self-direction and initiative must be displayed in completing your assignments.
This is twelve-semester hour course. This course is allotted ten weeks of time. You must complete all of the requirements for the course successfully by the end of the ten-week period. The first day of week one will begin the day that you register for the course.
It is up to you to comply with the time frames for assignments and completion of this course. Extensions are granted only for extenuating circumstances, and must be agreed upon by both you and I. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded twelve-semester hours of credit.
There are two (2) required textbooks for this course.
Book 1: Your choice. The textbook must consist of a subject related to Aviation Business Management or Aviation Safety Management. Some suggested fields are; research if aviation subjects, organizing safety programs, accident/incident prevention plans, setting goals and objectives of safety management, budgeting, and recruiting. Other skills needed are knowledge of the federal rules and regulations that governs the industry, the international aviation organizations, the entire aviation system etc.
Book 2: Your choice. The textbook must consist of a subject related to Aviation Business Management or Aviation Safety Management. There are NO examinations for this course.
There are two written assignments for this course. The first assignment is a ten-page (minimum) paper on Management or Aviation Management book of your choice. This paper must be double-spaced with 1.5-inch margins. Recall, I must download this paper by the end of the 3rd week of the course.
The second assignment is a six-page (minimum) paper on a Business or Aviation related book of your choice. This paper must be double-spaced with 1.5-inch margins. Also recall, I must download this paper by the end of the 6th week of the course.
The grading
scale for this course is as follows:
90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
Below 70% = Fail
You are encouraged to communicate with me.
I am available as a teacher, coach, and mentor to assist you in
meeting your goals for this course. Primarily, communication is
through email. However, I am also available for conversation by
telephone if you would like. Our classroom for this course has
a “chat” room. I am also very willing to meet with
you one-on-one in the chat room at your request. From time to
time, depending on how many students are enrolled in this course
at a particular time, we will have some scheduled group chats.
You will receive more detailed information at the time such chat
sessions are scheduled. Please keep my email address handy so
that you can contact me. If during your time in this course you
change your email address, please be sure to notify me right away.
It is permissible
for you to accelerate in this course. You may choose to take the
midterm examination prior to the fifth week in the course, and/or take the final examination prior to the tenth week in the
course. This is acceptable. Just notify me whenever you are ready
for an exam, and you will be given access. There is NO mandate
to accelerate. This is an individual choice that I will honor.
Professor Degife is a Ph.D. in Christian Leadership with Christian Leadership University (CLU). He has also completed Education Specialist Degree Program studies with Central Missouri State University (CMSU), Warrensburg, Missouri. After graduating his Master of Science in Aviation Safety from CMSU, Professor Degife worked for a government agency with responsibility to ensure the safety and security of the air transportation system. In his professional and academic efforts, Professor Degife received several awards of achievements.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
1). Quickly determine pertinent Aviation Management topics related to your role as a future Aviation Management Expert. Selectively narrow your topic.
2). Relate current Aviation Management issues to your local market and your project topic.
3). Identify national Aviation Management trends in your local market.
4). Increase your "core" Aviation Management knowledge acquired in pre-requisite courses.
5). Focus on a topic area of interest or of weakness. By topic selection.
6). Simulate a written report with a deadline as a future Aviation Management Expert.
7). Practice your disciplined problem solving skills.
8). Demonstrate your composite knowledge on the topic selected.
