SYLLABUS

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to ASM 488 Aviation Symposium II, the final Bachelor Level course in the curriculum for the Degree, Bachelor of Aviation Management. This course is a self-directed symposium, based on Aviation Management books and/or Aviation Business Management books. This course will allow you to pick and choose which books you will use and study during this course. The books should directly contribute a broad knowledge of your major program and you should get approval from me.

In order to be successful in the modern business world and Aviation Management, it is imperative that safety officers and managers of all levels realize they must acquire proficiency in the subsequent areas; researching, organizing, accident/incident prevention plans, setting goals and objectives of safety management, budgeting, and recruiting. Other skills needed are knowledge of the federal rules and regulations that governs the industry, the international aviation organizations, the entire aviation system, and the historical milestone of military and civil aviation.

A future safety manager must be able to draft an aviation safety speech that contains how safety is paramount for smooth expansion of aviation business and must have in-depth knowledge of statistical and historical background to address examples of worst occurrences and best achievements that aver happened to the industry. A future aviation safety manager must be able to understand the innovational technologies that affected the entire aviation system in the world.

In Aviation Symposium I, you acquired those skills. In Symposium II, you will continue to hone those skills. During this course, you will use all of the aforementioned skills and one more important one that you will need to deploy many times during your managerial career: work under pressure to meet a deadline.

The justification of this course is its foundational role in developing managers to further their careers up the corporate ladder. To be able to do this, they must be able to perform research, to write professionally, to check spelling and grammar in papers, to organize and present papers and, finally, to develop various managerial skills needed to achieve the highest level of management.

This is the last course before you graduate, so please take a deep breath and then explore into this course with urgency that you may think not existed. It is the most beneficiary part for your academic development.

TIME FRAME: This is a twenty (20) semester hour course. This course is allotted ten weeks of time.
