Our online distance education program offers students the opportunity to study a comprehensive curriculum in the Chemical Dependency Counseling program. Because substance abuse touches so many lives, there is a need for qualified specialists everywhere. With the right training, students can help stop the abuse and change lives for the better.
Through this program students will learn the skills needed to succeed in this field. All of the courses are focused on the major. This allows students to maximize their learning in the core courses and succeed in their educational and career goals.
Students
begin with the study of personal and human development,
psychology, foundations of chemical dependency counseling and
multicultural counseling. Specific courses focus on youth and
family counseling, ethics, pharmacology, dual diagnosis, crisis
intervention and more. In the higher division course students
have the unique opportunity to undertake
an actual clinical practicum courses. Students will secure
a practicum with supervision, in their own geographic location.
The practicum course allow students maximum opportunities
to experience the real world of the specialty. Students also
have the opportunity, following the completion of all required
courses, to register and take additional preparation and internship
supervision courses, leading to eligibilities for professional
certification in chemical dependency work. These preparatory
courses are optional. Several career fields this degree will prepare you for are:
* Counselor for Treatment Centers
* Prison Counselor
* Drug Rehabiliation Specialist
* Out-Patient Care Programs
The perquisites for this program are: a high school diploma or an earned GED
Please note: This degree was not designed to meet any state requirements for licensing.
The online curriculum
offers an innovative approach to higher education. Enrollment
is open and students may begin the program at any time. All
courses are provided in online classrooms, with on-to-one faculty
mentoring. Students also have free access to our comprehensive
Study Tactics and Resources Center, with links to subject
related web sites, online libraries, articles and research assistance.
Our online Chemical Dependency Counseling degree curriculum includes: (access red links,

120 Semester Hours
$400.00 per course.
Students may register and pay for one course at a time.
* Note: cost of tuition does not include cost of text books.
** There is also a one time $50.00 admission processing fee.
Course Completion Times: Students are permitted 10 weeks to complete an online course. This may
be extended with the permission of the instructor. For all Symposium Courses, students are
permitted up to a six month period for completion. Doctoral students are permitted one year for
all Dissertation/Doctoral Project courses.
