the opportunity to study a comprehensive curriculum in human
services degree program. The field of human services is broad and diverse. The goal of this field, however, is very specific; to improve life for everyone. A professional in this field must be prepared for a wide range of human needs and problems to achieve this goal.
Through this program students will learn the skills needed to succeed in this field. All of the courses are focused on the major. This allows students to maximize their learning in the core courses and succeed in their educational and career goals.
Students begin with the study of psychology and
communications, both principles and applications. Specific
courses focus on child psychology, growth
and development, substance abuse care, crisis interventions,
child welfare, elder care social programs, and ethics related
to social care. In the higher division courses students undertake
a comprehensive special topics symposium course. The symposium
course also allows students to focus and learn in areas of the
specialty that interest them most and in which they would like
to specialize in. The comprehensive practicum course allows students
maximum opportunities to experience the real world of this specialty. Several career fields this degree will prepare you for are:
* Social Services
