SYLLABUS

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to BIO 141! It is my pleasure to teach you General Biology in the Chiropractic Assisting degree program. You will learn the relationship between structure and function in Living systems. As well as identifying the systems of the human organism and describe their functions and describe how organisms maintain stable internal conditions while living in changing external environments. We will also cover topics such as; species can change through generations and that the instructions for traits are contained in the genetic material of the organisms, sexual reproduction results in more diverse offspring and asexual reproduction results in more uniform offspring. By the time the course is over you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the organization of living systems. Compare traits of organisms of different species that enhance their survival and reproduction and Distinguish between dominant and recessive traits and recognize that inherited traits of an individual are contained in genetic material. I hope you will enjoy learning from the course material as much as I will enjoy teaching it. Good Luck!

TIME FRAME: This course is a foundational course in the degree program. You will be awarded four credits upon passing. You will have 10 weeks to complete the course. It is a self-paced course, and so will require discipline to get through all the material in a timely manner.
