SYLLABUS

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to Broadcast/Mass Media Independent Study Project, the final Bachelor Level course in the curriculum for the Degree, Bachelor of Broadcasting and Mass Communications. I am pleased to instruct you in this course, which is a self-directed independent study/work experience based on broadcasting and/or mass media communication.

The purpose of this course is to get you some real time experience within the broadcasting/communication field. You will be required to set up and perform an internship within a broadcasting/communication facility (a local television or radio station, a video production house, etc.) The total length of the internship must be a minimum of eight weeks with a minimum of 10 hours per week, so will need to make contacts and arrangements within the first week of this course. Please note, most internships are not paid positions.

This is the last course before you graduate, so please take a deep breath, relax for a moment, and then explode into this course with an urgency that you didn't think existed. It is my pleasure, or more aptly stated, my honor to teach you in your final course before you graduate. I know you will enjoy this course.

TIME FRAME: This is a twelve (12) semester hour course. This course is allotted 10 weeks of time. You must complete all of the requirements for the course successfully by the end of the 10-week period. The first day of week one will begin the day that you register for the course, or the day which you notify me that your textbooks have arrived and you are ready to begin your studies. Please be cognizant of the time frame. It is rare that extensions of time are permitted, unless you have good justification. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded thirty (30) semester hours of credit and, of course, your degree in Bachelor of Business Administration.
