SYLLABUS

COURSE OVERVIEW: This is a six-hour course in the curriculum for the PH.D. in International Business program. It is my pleasure to partner with you for this course. The course is an overview with selective piercing to informational depths in areas like transnational culture, legal environments, trade, finance, governments, and operations. We will analyze issues, problems, and business implications and potential solutions to various cases and "cassettes". We will conduct critical evaluation current cases and illustrate application of proven strategies and tactics in the international business environment.

This course is deigned to be your most comprehensive venture into foreign policy and strategy, yet.

TIME FRAME: The course is allotted ten weeks of time. You must complete all of the requirements for the course successfully by the end of the ten-week period. The first day of week one will begin the day that you register for the course. Upon successful completion of this course, you will earn six semester hours of credit.

STUDENT EVALUATION AND GRADING SCALE: It is your responsibility to understand the syllabus, read the textbook and present ideas, and ask me for clarification if necessary. Evaluation measures application of;
1). Course ideas and concepts.
2). Analytical and evaluation skills.
3). Communication skills.

The following factors will determine the final grade:

1). Class projects (or weekly cases) will account for 60% of the total grade (60 points) and is due on a weekly basis, as assigned. These written projects, in APA format and should not be longer than 6 pages each. In terms of format, paper should include:

1). Abstract.
2). Body with appropriate references.
3). Conclusions.
4). References.

It must have focus and depth. Although length of paper will vary, it is expected that an average length of the paper should be from five to six pages.

2). There will be a mid-term examination during week 5. It will include the first 10 chapters and will be of short essay type. The Mid-term will account for 20% of the final grade or 20 points.

3). The final examination will include cover chapters 11 through 21. It will account for 20% of the final grade or 20 points. This will also be a short essay type format.

Grading Scale for this course is as follows:

90-100%    = A
80-89%      = B
70-79%      = C
Below 70% = Fail

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to;

1). Comprehend how foreign activities of accompany affect the home security operations.
2). Understand how to adapt to deteriorating foreign environments, including the collapse of foreign currency.
3). Develop an awareness of potential terrorism on the world economy and how its implications.
4.) Understand to implications of privatization and financial investment flows.

GENERAL POLICIES:

Late Work: Late work is not acceptable. All assignments must be completed during the assigned times. If a conflict exists and there is an acceptable justification for it, you are responsible to contact me about making up the work. Late assignments/works automatically lose one(1) letter grade. Make ups need to be completed within one week of the missed deadline.

Extra Credit: There is no extra credit work available.

Communications and feedback policy: Do not hesitate to communicate with me. Remember, I am here to assist you in meeting your goals for this course. I prefer communicating through email. However, I am also available for conversation by phone if you would like. Our classroom for this course has a "chat" room. I can meet with you one-on-one in the chat room at your request. From time to time, depending on how many students are enrolled in this course at a particular time, we will have some scheduled group chats. You will receive more detailed information if such chat sessions are scheduled. When emailing, always include your name and the course name in your email message to me, as I may not recognize your email name.

Feedback Policy: I respond to any e-mail within 24 hours or less. Weekends I reserve the right to wait until Monday to respond. If for any reason, I am not going to be available for a short period of time, I will notify you before hand so that no one is unclear about contacting me. I will provide a phone number for you to call if you want to talk with me.
