Welcome to Christian Counseling I. This in an introductory broad based counseling course with Biblical foundation. This course will introduce the student to basic concepts of basic Biblical counseling, the healthy integration of psychology and theology, and the pastoral role as a diagnostician. CCH160 is also an overview of helping individuals in various relationships, Hurts and Anger, caring for individual from Birth to Death. This course will lay the foundation for helping people by way of introduction to the basic types of pastoral care and counseling and counseling in crisis. This course will require an extensive amount of reading, self-evaluation and written analysis of books read and personal reflection.
The aim of this course is to give a basis overview of counseling from a Biblical foundation; to help give the student a better understanding of personal coping skills, and the foundation to build on and enhance counseling skills.
This is a ten-semester hour credit course. This course is allotted ten weeks of time. You must complete all of the requirements for the course successfully by the end of the ten-week period.
Rev. Charles Davis is a graduate of Christian Bible College and Seminary, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Breyer State University , and has complete two unit (800 hours) of CPE training. He holds a BS in Theology, Associates in Divinity and MS Pastoral Care. He serviced in the US Navy for 14 years working in the area of Electronics and Electronic Warfare, this included three tours in Vietnam . Additional He served as a drug and alcohol counselor, a Master Training Specialist and Electronic Instructor. He has ten (10) years experience as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in the electronic component manufacturing industry. Rev. Davis ' entered the ministry in 1978 as served as pastor, counselor, teacher, and chaplain. Rev. Davis has served on various denominational committees and boards at the local and State level.
During Rev. Davis ' twenty-five (25) years tenure as pastor/teaching/counselor/chaplain he has served hospitals and congregations in Florida , Illinois , California , Texas and Missouri . He is present serving a congregation in Kansas City , Missouri . As a pastor and counselor, Rev. Davis' counseling as ranged from crises intervention to long term; children to senior adults; families to groups and has involved counseling in the areas of (but not limited to) addiction, death and dying, abortion, marriage, divorce, and suicide.

Grades are based on completion of assignments and activities.
The grading scale for this course is as follows:
90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
Below 69% = Fail
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
1). Utilize Scripture as a foundation to counseling.
2). Have a basic understanding the personality types.
3). Deal with individuals in crisis.
4). Identify and basic understanding of the various types counseling.
5). Understand the power of personal relationship.
6). Have a foundational understanding of methods to help restore relationship.
7). Understand the relationship of Biblical Counseling, Psychology, Theology.
8). Understand how to use the Biblical principals in counseling.
