SYLLABUS

COURSE OVERVIEW: Breyer State University offers a complete Certificate program in Alternative Approaches to Learning Disabilities III. This is a twelve-semester hour course and provides a comprehensive and detailed curriculum in this teaching specialty. The program uses the latest and authoritative texts. The learning disabilities certificate program objective is to prepare teachers to practice at a competent level of knowledge and skill in teaching children with special needs.

Upon successful completion of the certificate program, graduates receive a College Certificate in Alternative Approaches to Learning Disabilities III, and twelve-semester hours of college credit. CEU certificates are also available for 180 contact hours.

You may enroll at anytime and begin your studies. This Learning Disabilities Certificate Program is designed to be a self-paced program with one to one faculty mentoring. You are permitted twelve months from the date of enrollment to complete the program. You study and meet the program objectives at your own pace, and are permitted to complete the program in less than the twelve-month allotted time frame.

Once officially enrolled, you are given a security password and directions to accessing the online classroom for the Certificate Program. The classroom contains information about me your course instructor, course assignments, ordering information for textbooks, course objectives, syllabus and information regarding exams. You correspond with me via email, and/or phone.

COURSE CONTENT: A small sample of course content follows:

1). What is SID (Sensory Integration Dysfunction)?
2). Common symptoms of SID.
3). Associated problems.
4). Causes of SID.
5). Diagnosis and treatment.
6). What is inner ear dysfunction?
7). Phobias and the inner ear.
8). Solving the dyslexia riddle.

1.	EDC 440	Recognizing & Coping with Sensory Integration Dysfunction				4 hrs
2.	EDC 445	The Inner Ear & Dyslexia				4 hrs
3.	EDC 449	Dyslexia: A Child's Perspective				4 hrs

Total semester hours: 12

PREREQUISITE: Bachelors Degree in Education or Psychology. Others by request only.

TUITION: The cost per course is $400.00
