Breyer State University offers a Certificate Program in Healthcare
Delivery System Economics. This is a twelve-semester hour course
and provides a comprehensive and detailed curriculum in this specialty
with emphasis on Healthcare delivery system economics. The program
uses the most current and authoritative text.
Upon successful completion of the certificate program,
graduates receive a College Certificate in Management Applications
in Health Care Administration, and twelve-semester hours of college
credit. CEU certificates are also available for 180 contact hours.
You may enroll at any time and begin your studies.
The Certificate Program is designed to be a self-paced program
with one to one faculty mentoring. You are permitted twelve months
from the date of enrollment to complete the program. You study
and meet the program objectives at your own pace, and are permitted
to complete the program in less than the twelve-month allotted
time frame.
Once officially enrolled, you are given a security
password and directions to accessing the online classroom for
the Certificate Program. The classroom contains information about
me your course instructor, course assignments, ordering information for textbooks, course
objectives, syllabus and information regarding exams. You correspond
with me via e-mail, and/or phone.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
1). Provide you with the various systems and subsystems
which comprise healthcare today.
2). Provide you with a frame of reference for a review of the
historical evolution of the healthcare delivery system.
3). Provide you with certain core information and concepts which
are vital to understand basic healthcare management and finance
related to current industry issues.

physicians, insurance Companies, hospitals and the government
which will give you a sound background for healthcare administration
decision making.

12). Long term care principles and policy issues.
13). Employment trends with Healthcare professionals.
14). Economic tradeoffs in Healthcare.
15). Payor system choices.
16). The demand for medical services and medical insurance - moral
hazard.
17). Cost benefit and cost effectiveness.
18). Profit maximization in Healthcare markets.
19). Monopolistic model vs. the Oligopolistic model of Healthcare
Delivery.
20). Non-profit vs. For-profit delivery models - ownership conversion.
21). Anti-competitive practices in Healthcare.
22). Physician services industry.

You must hold at least an Associate Degree in a Health related
field such as: Cytotechnologist, Dental Hygienist, Emergency Medical
Technician, Medical Laboratory Technician, Nuclear Medical Technologist,
Occupational Therapy Assistant, Paramedic, Physical Therapy Assistant,
Radiologic Technologist, Registered Nurse, Certified Respiratory
Therapy Technician or other appropriate disciplines.
