INTRODUCTION

COURSE OVERVIEW: Breyer State University offers a complete Certificate program in Polymer Clay designs as Memsis. This is a 12-semester hour course and provides a comprehensive and detailed curriculum in the referencing and documentation learning about creating and designing polymer clay in memsis, or mimicking. Learning the techniques and approaches to jewelry making, weekend projects, the look of jade, turquoise, and other natural stones and materials that imitate precious stones, metals, wood and much more. Many ways are shown to create these wonderful techniques in terms of teaching them in easy to understand instructional books. Learn from a faculty member who is a practicing instructor and a successful independent business owner in the Arts, Alternative Health Care Modalaties, Angelology and Hypnotherapy field.

The program uses four detailed texts. The certificate program is designed to prepare the individual, whether you are aspiring or experienced, into a level of skill and knowledge for the personal creations or career in the polymer clay world. This course is for anyone desiring the understanding of personal goals of new techniques, projects, re-creating the look of precious and semi-precious stones and metals along with many more useful ways of the imagination. It may be applied towards a bachelors in Art and CEU hours for any certification needed.

Upon successful completion of the certificate program, you will receive a College Certificate in Polymer Clay Design and 12-semester hours of college credit.

There are three courses for this certificate program.

PLC 450 - The Basics of Polymer Clay Use - 4 semester hours

PLC 460 - Getting to Know Your Polymer Clay - 4 semester hours

PLC 470 - Faux Creations - 4 semester hours

You may enroll at anytime and begin your studies. The Certificate Program is designed to be a self-paced program with one to one faculty mentoring. You are permitted twelve months from the date of enrollment to complete the program. You study at your own pace, and are permitted to complete the program in less than the twelve-month allotted time frame.

Once officially enrolled, you are given a security password and directions to accessing the online classroom for the Anatomy and Proportion in Sculpting the Head Certificate Program. The classroom contains information about Karan Schneider-your instructor, course assignments, ordering information for textbooks, video, course objectives, syllabus, and information regarding exams. You correspond with me via email.

You may enroll at anytime and begin your studies. The Certificate Program is designed to be a self-paced program with one to one faculty mentoring. EXAMS: During your studies, you will use four textbooks. Each of the three course assignments will describe what will be used in that particular course to study. For each course there will be a Learning Portfolio all of which are answered as you study the four textbooks. You are to complete each learning portfolio and one comprehensive final at the end for each course, and then proceed to the next course.

GRADES: You will receive a pass/fail on the Learning Portfolios and a letter grade on the each of the three comprehensive final exam based on the following scale:

90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
Below 70% = F

You must receive a letter grade of C or higher to successfully complete the program.

PREREQUISITE: A desire to learn the all about the latest techniques of polymer clay.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Karan has a Ph.D. in Science of Clinical Hypnotherapy & Spiritual Counseling, Master of Science in Art, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Breyer State University. She is National Board Certified by The American Institute of Health Care Professionals as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Spiritual Counselor, and a Grief Counselor. In addition to this she is an Advisory Board Member for Spiritual Counseling with AIHCP and remains licensed by the State of Ohio as a substitute teacher.
She is a member of The International Society of Hildegard von Bingen Studies founded by Professor Bruce W. Hozeski in 1984, which includes perspectives of all the works of Hildegard von Bingen such as medicine, music, poetry and religion. In addition she has a long-standing membership with Home School Legal Defense, or HSLDA, for over fifteen years. She teaches online courses as well as certification courses at Breyer State University. Her current office is called Alternative Health Care Modalities and offers a variety of vibrational modalities to heal the body, mind and spirit using Nature’s Remedies. Karan is the founder of the international food service called BABS Bakery. This bakery services the world in baked goods for healthier eating made with spelt and/or coconut flours. This bakery is dedicated to Hildegard von Bingen and features her healing foods along with Bubbaire’s own recipes for the spirit. http://www.babsbakery.com

In 1988, she self-developed a business called “Karan A. Schneider Collections” with the first collectible copyrighted. A custom porcelain angel was created for the White House in 1992 and to follow she was selected by Hillary Rodham Clinton in 1999 to create Christmas Tree Art Work for the White House presentation of Holiday Treasures. She has been authored and published internationally from 1996 to 2003 in various “how-to” articles with international magazines as Doll Crafter and Dollmaker that also included writing articles for various artists. Author and artist, Susanna Oroyan selected Karan to be featured in her two books, Designing the Doll and Finishing the Figure. Karan’s original art pieces have been created for world famous physicians, attorneys, Las Vegas managers, and celebrities including Richard Simmons.

Her recent project concerning the Peace & Protection Plan was first introduced to The White House in August of 2004, with Emerging Wings, Unaware art as the visual for peace from the Angels.

TUITION: The tuition for this certificate program is $900.00. This does not include the cost of textbooks. You are provided ordering information for the textbooks, and must order on your own.

Breyer State's tuition payment plan allows you to pay for one course at a time. You may also elect to pay the entire tuition for all three courses at one time. Each course must be paid for prior to beginning each course. Breyer State 's tuition reimbursement policy is the following: you may receive full refund of paid tuition within 30 days of payment. Requests for tuition refund must be made in writing to Breyer State University and received within 30 days of the payment.

Breyer State University has a secure online credit card server, which allows you to pay for courses right on line. Upon enrolling in the program, you will be given a unique student ID number and password to access the classroom for your course. Each course has its own classroom where all assignments are posted, as well as the course syllabus. All examinations are also accessed through the classroom. Each classroom has a chat room and a message board where you and I may communicate.

PROGRAM COMPLETION: Upon successful completion of all three courses in the program, you will graduate and receive official transcripts as well as an official Diploma Certificate very suitable for framing.
