I hold a Master's Degree in Computer Technology in Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I am currently teaching Computer Office Techniques, Introduction to Image Editing, and Document Formatting & Skill building for Breyer State University. I have also been teaching Introduction to Microcomputers for Miami-Dade College in the Virtual College department since 2004. My other work includes running a small computer tutoring and website design company. My professional teaching experience includes over nine years of working with clients of all ages.
Last year I was honored to attend a formal interview in Houston, TX with NASA for the position of Educator Astronaut. Although I was not selected as one of the final three, it was a very interesting, fun, and life-changing experience. I still continue to remain associated with NASA through the N.E.A.T. (Network of Educator Astronaut Teachers) program. This includes being a science, math, and technology ambassador in the classroom. We give demonstrations on new educational theories and projects provided by NASA to other teachers. It has been enlightening attending these seminars with the other 100 outstanding N.E.A.T. teachers.
In my spare time I enjoy teaching flying (I am a Certified Flight Instructor), skydiving, training for triathlons, and going to "doggie school" with my dogs.
I have an open door policy in all of my classes and encourage questions, online chats, and peer discussions. I look forward to getting to know all of my students.
Upon completion of this course you will be able to:
1). Demonstrate proper formatting skills and techniques.
2). Develop proper keyboarding composition skills and understand computer terminology.
