DCH 503

Breyer State University

Professor: Alan R. Eastman, DCH.

Abstract of Syllabus

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to DCH 503, a doctorate level course in the curriculum of the Doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy Degree program. I am pleased to offer you this course which will be an elevation of your current knowledge in the field of clinical hypnotherapy. Now the journey towards experiential knowledge heightens. Many of the students in the DCH program are already Clinical Hypnotherapists, so you already may be working with clients. I know this program will enhance your work with your clients. The Curriculum has been carefully designed to be a bridge between the pure science of the hypnotic phenomena and the current knowledge in the field of mind/body, and spirit/soul sciences. I have designed this program to not only be learned, but most important be experienced.

Stepping beyond what is now scientifically known we take a journey along a path, which leads to uncovering that which is already known. Learning to step beyond into the recesses of the inner workings of the mind will take you on a journey of spiritual knowledge; knowing which path to take because we trust our inner voice, the voice of the subconscious mind.

This is a course, which is developed to help you learn to relax through proven methods, understand the phenomena of meditation, and learn affirmation therapies. This course is for you to read, to think, to experience, and to transfer your new skills to help others in your own journey. This course is structured to provide you a structured learning environment within the framework of a distance learning program.

The course is about learning to incorporate your inner understanding about relaxation, meditation, and affirmative therapies into your own life, and to the life of your clients in your clinical practice.

This course provides a unique way of learning, it is in its own way, a journey of the spirit. We use language to describe our experiences, and the author of the first text has a unique grasp on the language of the unconscious. The first text is Hypnosis: how to put a smile on your face and money in your pocket, by Shelley Stockwell. The first text explains the Stockwell System of Hypnotherapy by Shelley Stockwell, Ph.D. The basics of the system are grounded on the science of hypnosis, but the Stockwell System is also a real art. Hypnosis in action looks at our life attitudes and how we use language to help or hinder ourselves. The Stockwell text provides the reader an enlightening and even humorous way to incorporate hypnosis into our lives, and the lives of our clients. The text uses case studies, descriptions, and demonstrations to help you create abundance in your life, and in your clinical practice.

The Camino is the second textbook in this course, while not a traditional textbook, this book will provide an insight into a personal journey. For years, Shirley MacLaine has studied, and, experienced the phenomena of relaxation, meditation, and affirmation therapies. Going beyond studying, she has truly experienced. Experiencing is what you, as a reader will do also. As you read the text think about how the authors words relate to your own journey, and the journey of all of us.

TIME FRAME: This is a five-semester hours course. This course is allotted ten weeks time frame for completion. You must complete all of the requirements for the course to be successfully completed by the end of the ten week period.

Distance learning requires a certain amount of self-discipline. In someways it can be more demanding than traditional educational programs because you must set time aside each day for your course work. If you set aside an hour or two each day for reading and writing, you should have no problem completing the course within the time frame given. Of course, you must add additional time for each course you are taking, so you must balance your regular life with your student life.

You may enroll at anytime and begin your studies. The doctoral program is designed to be a self-paced program with one to one faculty supervision. You study and meet the program objectives at your own pace, and are permitted to complete the program in less than the allotted time frame, but cannot complete the course in less than four weeks.

Once officially enrolled, you are given a security password and directions for accessing the online classroom for the program. The classroom contains information about me, course assignments, ordering information for textbooks, course objectives, syllabus and information regarding exams. you correspond with me via email, and/or phone.
