COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to DCH 504, a doctorate level course in the curriculum of the Doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy Degree program. Utilizing the text, Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis brings us current information on all aspects of the science of hypnosis. This course focuses on the study and use of hypnosis in a clinical setting. This course will cover the techniques of hypnotherapy applied to a wide range of medical, dental, and psychological conditions. The underlying principles of suggestibility, the study of hypnosis, and factors that influence hypnotizability are included.

This is a course which is developed to further enhance your clinical knowledge the first text is particularly suited for physicians, dentists, psychologists, and psychiatrists; however, all types of Hypnotherapists' will gain a deeper understanding of altered states of consciousness applied in a clinical setting.

The course will include sections on interesting topics such as pain, acupuncture, biofeedback, meditation, learning theory, behavior modification, and imagery conditioning. Other topics covered will include criminology, legal aspects, oncology, physical rehabilitation, hypnosis depth scales, sports, and many more interesting topics.

This course provides an in-depth search into the science of hypnosis. The texts have been selected to provide the best understanding of this sometimes-complicated phenomenon. From the nature of suggestibility, hypnosis tests, to the use of hypnosis in spiritual healing, the text covers it all. You will be asked to gain an understanding of the phenomena included in the course texts. The texts deal with the neurological, the fundamental, and the clinical aspects of hypnosis. You will be asked to perform a search for literature on a scientific aspect of hypnosis, and draft a paper detailing the information contained within.

Modern Hypnosis is the study of aspects of phenomena that can be traced back many hundreds, even thousands of years. The ancients used hypnosis like phenomena to induce trance and to heal. In our time, it has been discovered through scientific discovery that hypnosis can be applied to a myriad of applications. This course will cover the scientific applications of hypnosis in a clinical setting. You will also learn how to apply a scientific approach to your studies and your work with clients.
