Some of the curriculums require
completion of one or two formal courses. |
| • |
Students who apply to a Self-Design
Degree program will complete a survey form to allow for an
assessment of the ideas and interests for their program. |
| • |
Once enrolled into the program students
submit a short proposal of key topic areas for self-design
study, based on the approved major for their program. |
| • |
Students are assigned a faculty
mentor/advisor who works with them throughout the degree program. |
| • |
Students create a learning contract
for each of the self-design courses. |
| • |
The online classroom for self-design
programs provides full instructions and samples for completing
the learning contract. |
| • |
The student's faculty mentor/advisor
approves the learning contract or assists the student in revisions
as needed. |
| • |
Student's then work on their self-design
course by following the learning contract. |
| • |
Most learning contracts require
completion of a paper or a course project based on the course
topic. |
| • |
For each self-design course, 2 to
3 course equivalents are awarded which are relevant to the
course content and the student's degree program. |
Self-Design Degree Programs allow students to select their own
innovative curriculum and offer considerable choices of study.
