Risk Management I uses advanced financial techniques that focuses the learner on understanding risk in the corporate business environment. Some of the topics covered in this course will help to familiarize the student with the principles of risk management, concepts and terminology. Students will gain an understanding of risk evaluation in different contexts. Being able to identify risk in the work place furthers the student's ability to make quality managerial decisions.

This is designed to be the first course in Risk Management. The course is designed to provide the risk management process, objectives of risk management and measurement techniques. Topics focus on business risk management and include commercial risk reduction, use of derivative e contracts, and alternative risk transfer arrangements. Monte Carlo simulation, regression analysis, and net present value are among some of the tools used in corporate risk management. Liability, such as product liability, environment liability, limited liability, vicarious liability, hold harmless agreements and liability claims management issues are examined.

As with all finance courses, one must study diligently to make progress. Mastery takes time. The course covers 13 chapters, (Chapter 1,2 & 3 as introductory chapters and Chapters 20 through 29).
