Welcome to your Dissertation in Grief Counseling, a Doctorate
Level course in the curriculum for the Degree, Doctor of Philosophy in Grief
Counseling. I'm pleased to offer you this course. This is your
last course in the program. In order to complete your dissertation
you must first complete a proposal, once approved your can start
working on your dissertation as per the guidelines stated below.
This is a twelve-semester
hour course. This course is allotted twenty weeks of time. You
must complete all of the requirements for the course successfully
by the end of the twenty-week period. Please be cognizant of the
time frame. It is rare that extensions of time are permitted,
unless you have good justification. Upon successful completion
of this course, you will be awarded twelve semester hours of credit.
Students may accelerate, but may not complete this course in less
than four weeks.
All students in the Ph.D. program of Grief Counseling
must complete a project proposal for their dissertation. Proposals
must be completed and approved by Breyer State University and
Juan Kenigstein, Ph.D. before the submission of any dissertation.
Follow these guidelines when developing your proposal:
1). All proposals must be type-written. A hand written proposal
is not acceptable
2). Please provide a cover page which includes the following:
• Your name.
• Address.
• Phone Number.
• Student ID number.
• Email address.
• The degree you are pursuing.
• The date of submission.
• Title the page with " Ph.D. Proposal"
3). Please use 1 inch margins when completing your proposal.
4). Please be sure to number all pages, (header or footer).
5). Please follow this structure/format for writing your proposal
• Abstract- provide a 2-3 paragraph abstract which generally
overviews what your dissertation will entail.
• Title: provide a title for dissertation (Example: The
Understanding of Primary and Secondary Losses in Grief).
• Please detail the format/structure you will be using.
If you will be conducting research, please note the type of research
such as
Experimental, Exploratory, etc. (For example, submitting a completed
handbook on samples of Grant Writing for Non-Profit Organizations
Related to Grief).
6). Be sure to make a copy of the proposal for yourself. Proposals
that are submitted to the University will not be returned to you.
7). Following submission of your proposal, you will receive a
completed evaluation of the proposal from the Academic Faculty
of BSU within 2-3 weeks. All proposal evaluations will be emailed
to you.
The grading
scale for this course is as follows:
90-100% = A
80-89% = B
Below 79% = Fail
Proposal - 10%
Dissertation - 90%
TOTAL 100%
You are encouraged
to communicate with me. I am available as a teacher, coach, and
mentor to assist you in meeting your goals for this course. Primarily,
communication is through email. However, I am also available for
conversation by telephone if you would like. Our classroom for
this course has a "chat" room. I am also very willing
to meet with you one-on-one in the chat room at your request.
From time to time, depending on how many students are enrolled
in this course at a particular time, we will have some scheduled
group chats. You will receive more detailed information at the
time such chat sessions are scheduled. Please keep my email address
handy so that you can contact me whenever necessary. Upon registration,
