Breyer State University offers an Honorary Doctorate Degree Program that provides opportunities for professionals to be considered for conferral of this honor. The honorary doctorate degree program is open for applications. The honorary doctorate degree is not an earned academic degree. It is a special honors degree that is conferred upon those who have submitted an application for review and are found to have met all of the necessary criteria for such honor conferral.
To apply for the Honorary Doctorate Degree, applicants must meet these minimum criteria:
1). Have an earned graduate level degree.
2).
Able to validate professional and career experiences after conferral of the graduate level degree.
3).
Able to demonstrate significant contributions to one’s profession and/or society.
4).
Able to validate having been published in a peer reviewed journal, a book, or have completed a major project related to one’s profession/career.
5).
Able to validate a significant number of years of experiences within one’s profession.
The above are the minimum requirements for making application to the program.
There is a one time $50.00 application fee that is to accompany the application. Once your application is received, it will be scheduled for review by an academic committee made up of highly qualified faculty. All required credentials and validations must have been received before the application is reviewed. Full details as to the required documents are provided to applicants upon receipt of the official application.
Following the review the committee will make a recommendation to the administration to confer or not to confer the Honorary Doctorate Degree upon the applicant. Upon final approval by the administration, the candidate for the honorary doctorate degree will make a contribution to the University of $750.00. This contribution will be shared with various charitable organizations as selected by the administration.
Upon approval and receipt of the contribution, the candidate will be conferred the Honorary Doctorate Degree. The degree may be a Doctor of Philosophy Degree or a Doctoral Degree, depending on what the candidate qualifies for. Those conferred the honorary doctorate degree are provided with a diploma and official records of degree conferral.
Prior to degree conferral, candidates will process a special affidavit demonstrating their understanding that the honorary doctorate degree is:
1). An honorary degree and not an earned academic degree
2). That they agree to sign the initials Ph.D(hon) in cases where they use this honor.
3). That the honorary doctorate degree does not meet any type of requirements for licensing or certifications, or any type of specific employment.
4). That the candidate abides by the university policy to never misrepresent the degree, and are clear as to the designation of the degree as honorary in any and all uses of the degree title.
