Thank you for your interest in Breyer State University.
We receive questions regarding acceptance of degrees by states
and/or countries and schools, as well as questions related to
issue of licensing. To help you, we have prepared a special FAQ
with responses. Please review the following information carefully.
We will be happy to respond to any questions you may have.
Response: Each state has their own state governments
with their own laws and regulations. It is impossible to directly
answer your question. However, states do not have laws that prohibit
use of a degree, except for the state of Oregon . If you live in
Oregon, you should know that unfortunately, Oregon has a law
which makes the use of a non-regionally accredited degree "illegal" in
that state. If you have further questions regarding acceptance
of a degree that is not "regionally accredited" you should
contact your own state's board of education and pose your questions
to them. Again, other than Oregon, we do not know of any laws
or statutes/regulations related to a states acceptance of non-regionally
accredited degree.
Response: Each college/university have their own specific criteria
and policies related to requirements for their degree programs.
Each is unique. There is no simple, general answer to this question.
Most all non-regionally accredited schools will accept a non-regionally
accredited degree for entry into higher level program. Some schools
that are regionally accredited will accept a non-regionally accredited
degree, and others will not. We do have on file letters from regionally accredited
schools that have accepted the affiliate degree. If you plan to
pursue more education following graduation from Breyer State University
it is strongly advised that you contact schools you may be interested
in and ascertain their specific entry requirements.
Response: Again, each
state has its own licensing laws and each state's laws and regulations
define what they will or will not consider for application for
any type of licensure's. Your question can only be answered by
the particular state board that confers licensure in your state.
For example, if you desire to obtain a "teaching
certificate" you would need to first contact your own particular
state board that is responsible for issuing such a certificate.
You will need to ascertain from them what the requirements are
for licensure.
Please be sure to ask specific questions of your state licensing
boards before you enter into a particular degree program. Some
states also require a specialty accreditation or approval. For
example, state boards of nursing generally all require that one
graduate from a program that is NLN (national league of nursing)
approved. As Breyer State University is not regionally accredited,
we do not have any type of specialty accreditations. Thus, we do
not have a preparatory degree program for RN licensure.
If you desire licensure in any of the following then please check
with your state agency or board that issues license for these specialties:
counseling, clinical psychology, education/teaching certificate,
social services, nursing, other specific health care specialties
such as respiratory therapy, physical therapy, etc., real estate,
some engineering specialist, etc.
Breyer State University has not designed curriculums specifically
to meet any state's licensing requirements. Breyer State University
can not guarantee acceptance of any degree for licensing in any
state or country. It is the prospective student's responsibility
to ascertain the requirements for licensure in their state or country.
Note: there are some states that may allow certain individuals
with a particular degree to practice without a license.
Examples:
1. There is a
state that does not require licensure for the practice of Social
Work.
2.Some states
will allow for a non-licensed, trained or educated person to practice
without a license as long as they are practicing under the "supervision" of
a licensed professional. Example, in some states, one with a degree
in Social Work might be able to practice Social Work without a
license, as long as they practice under the supervision of a licensed
social worker. Again, you must check with your state licensing
agency or board.
