Information Sheet on our Masters of Science in Grief Counseling

Thank you for your interest in our online Masters of Science in Grief Counseling. Very few (distance program) opportunities exist today to acquire academic education in Grief Counseling, through online courses. Breyer State is proud to offer a new "Innovative" online distance education degree program leading to the Masters of Science Degree in Grief Counseling. Our degree program consists of nine core courses which are listed below:

1. GRF 500 Death & Dying I 5 hrs
2. GRF 550 Counseling the Dying Patient 5 hrs
3. GRF 600 Grief Counseling 5 hrs
4. GRF 625 Grief Therapy 5 hrs
5. GRF 650 Counseling Theories and Techniques 5 hrs
6. GRF 700 Counseling Groups 5 hrs
7. GRF 725 Near and After Death Experience 5 hrs
8. GRF 750 Counseling Children 5 hrs
9. GRF 800 Grief Counseling & Thanatology Symposium 10 hrs

TOTAL HRS = 50 semester hours

The Masters Degree in Grief Counseling has been approved by the American Academy of Grief Counseling. Students who complete the first three courses in the curriculum are eligible to apply for Certification as a Grief Counselor, through the Academy http://www.aihcp.org/aagc.htm

Upon successful completion of all nine courses you will be conferred the degree " Masters of Science in Grief Counseling and may use the initials, "MS" after your name. The MS Degree prepares you for a successful career in grief counseling and bereavement education. Upon graduation, this program is designed for you to immediately enter into the field of grief and bereavement work. The demand for highly educated and graduate level prepared professionals in grief counseling is on the rise. Many Grief Counselors have their own practices, while others obtain employment in Hospices, Funeral Homes, Counseling Centers, Hospitals, and Social Service agencies.

All courses are targeted and precise, clear and easy to follow, yet challenging and exciting at the same time. Each course begins with a syllabus from your instructor, followed by course assignments. You will be given five years to complete the MS program. Graduates, who reside outside of the USA, may require their degrees to have an Apostille Certification.  Breyer State University works with an agency in Washington DC that we refer graduates to for application for their Apostille of their degree. View Additional Information

FAQS:

1). There are no residency or travel requirements for this degree program.
2). Courses may be registered for and paid for, all at once or one course at a time.
3). You may take more than one course at one time.
4). Breyer State University is accredited by the Association for Innovation in Distance Education. To learn more about our accreditation please view www.breyerstate.com/accreditation.htm
5). Tuition does not include the cost of required textbooks.
6). To apply for the MS Degree Program, you must complete an online enrollment application. This can be done at www.breyerstate.com/apply.htm
7). There is a one-time $50.00 admissions fee. This can be paid by credit card online at our secure server www.breyerstate.com/pay.htm We also accept personal checks and money orders payable to Breyer State University. These may be mailed to 950 Bannock Street Suite 950, Boise, ID 93702.
8). Prerequisites: an earned Bachelors Degree.
9). There are no grants or tuition assistant for this program. However, many employers are paying for or are reimbursing tuition for studies at Breyer State University. Please check with your own employer's policy on this.
10). Breyer State University will accept transfer credits of completed courses from other universities.
11). Upon graduation, your diploma and official transcripts will have a Masters of Science in Grief Counseling, as well as your major area of study printed on the diploma.

13). Our diplomas are beautifully done by a professional printer. They are a light cream color card stock with blue and black foil ink for lasting quality. The Breyer State University logo is imprinted and our diplomas carry the gold embossed seal of the university. They are contained in a beautiful navy blue leather-like diploma holder with the university logo embossed in gold on the outside cover.
