Leadership Graduate Project

Executive MBA in Leadership

LDR 700

Breyer State University
Instructor: Linda Michelle Council, MBA, BS

SYLLABUS

COURSE OVERVIEW: The Leadership Graduate Project is the capstone of the entire masters program. In your project, you will not only be demonstrating that you have indeed gained mastery over the contemporary and classical research and theories in executive leadership, but that you also know how to apply what you have learned to your profession. Included in this application must be your awareness and sensitivity to the current issues of the day as they relate to leadership and to your profession.

In this course, you will develop a graduate level project designed to demonstrate mastery in the field of leadership studies. You will develop the Leadership Graduate Project by applying learning from the leadership field of study courses, and the research course to a professional setting.

Your project must demonstrate your critical thinking abilities as well as your ability to utilize scholarly resources to inform and support your work. Abraham Lincoln said, "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." Thus, your project must also demonstrate a high ethical standard that is so central to good leadership.

All these elements are not only possible for a student who has mastered the material in this program, but no doubt will already be evidenced in work that has, or is being completed. The final purpose of the graduate project then, is to permit you not only to demonstrate knowledge, but also to integrate within yourself the reality of the accomplishment. I hope you will find the development of this project meaningful both personally and professionally!

INSTRUCTOR AVAILABILITY: Upon registration, you will be given my e-mail address. You will normally receive a response from me within twenty-four hours. If during your time in this course you change your e-mail address, please be sure to notify me right away. Please note that since my e-mail inbox is like nearly everyone else's, I often find loads of SPAM in it. Before reading my e-mail, I delete everything that looks like SPAM. You should ALWAYS type the initials BSU in the beginning of the subject heading of your e-mails to me. This alerts me when I look at my list of e-mails that yours is not SPAM and I won't accidentally delete your e-mail without reading it. If, however, you would prefer an online chat on the BSU course site, please contact me via e-mail to arrange an appointment.

COURSE ACCELERATION: It is permissible for you to accelerate in this course. You may chose to submit the paper prior to the ninth week of the course and to take the final examination prior to the tenth week of the course.
