Welcome to MCH 415! This is a top-level course in the Bachelor of Science curriculum offered through Breyer State University, Inc. This couse is an essential course in the Bachelor of Science degree progam leading to a B.S. degree in Metaphysical Clinical Hypnotherapy. This course has been developed to provide all students with a intense study into the dreaming mind. The book presents the author's views on studies over a vast array of scientific and cultural studies carried out to discover the remarkable potential of our dreaming mind.
This course is a very up-to-date overview and guided process that must be followed step by step before advancing to the next course in the degree program. The MCH 415 course is organized into six parts, which start by introducing you to, the dilemma of whether reality is better glimpsed with open eyes during the daylight hours or with closed eyes during dreaming. We will become acquainted with our anscesters' expereinces with dreams thoughout history. We will then move on to the twentieh-century dream theories of Freud and Jung. Plus the views of more recent works are reviewed from researchers such as Boss, Perls, Gendlin, and Hall.
The second half of the book describes effors to approach dreams experimentally. Part four presents the results of early scientific investigations into factors that influence dreams, both physiologically and psychologically, and describes how dreams are currently evaluated by means of EEG (brain wave monitoring) technology. The advantages and disadvantages of studying drreams in the imposing setting of a modern sleep laboratory are examined.
Part five of the book you will learn about how scientists tabulate the elements found in dreams to discover the patterns of dream content that exist for an individual or a particular class of dreamers. Data are presenteed to show how dreams change as we age, how the dreams of men and women are different, and how stress can influence the outcome of our dreams.
In the final part of the book the author introduces you to the exciting frontiers of knowledge concerning dreams. What the author refers to as the "twilight zone" of dreams. The book progresses to discuss how dream imagery has the potential to serve as a "mental X ray," allowing diagnosis of an impending physical or mental problem before it manefests itself physically as a full blown symptom in our waking life. Lucid dreams are explored, these are dreams where the dreamer is consciously aware of "the dream."
