Welcome to Natural Health Care Protocols III NHC-680, a 4 semester-hour course. The human body consists of 10 body systems. This course will address the following systems: Gastro-Intestinal System; Muscular-Skeletal System; Cardiovascular And Respiratory Systems.
The Gastro-Intestinal System, also known as the Digestive System, involves the salivary glands, stomach, esophagus, intestines, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, enzymes, digestive juices and bile. The digestive system breaks down food into its nutrients and converts it into absorbable forms. Common disorders of the Digestive System include ulcers, acid reflux, constipation and gallstones.
The Muscular-Skeletal System involves the muscles, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue, bones and joints. This system is the basis for body structure and facilitates mobility. Common disorders of the Muscular-Skeletal System include arthritis, gout, osteoporosis, muscle cramps.
The Cardiovascular System involves the heart, blood vessels [veins and arteries] and blood circulation. The right side of the heart receives deoxygenated blood from the tissues and pumps it to the lungs. The left side of the heart receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it to the tissues. Common disorders of the Cardiovascular System include heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and poor blood circulation.
The Respiratory System involves the organs affecting breathing, which include the lungs, bronchial passages, diaphragm, nasal cavity and trachea. It also involves the gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide, which is essential to respiration. Common disorders of the Respiratory System include bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma and emphysema.
Your grade is not the goal. The goal is to seek as much knowledge as you possibly can. In this distance learning program there is no one standing over you to monitor whether you read or not, but in the long run, you will need every bit of this knowledge. In your practice, you will be challenged on a regular basis, and the only ammunition you will have will be the knowledge that you continue to seek on your own.
This is an (4) four-semester hour course. This course is allotted 15 weeks of time. You must complete all of the requirements for the course successfully by the end of the 15 week period. The first day of week one will begin the day that you register for the course, or the day which you notify me that your textbook has arrived and you are ready to begin your studies. Please be cognizant of the time frame. Extensions of time are permitted if needed with my and/or departmental approval. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded 4 semester hours of credit.
