SYLLABUS:

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to ACUPRESSURE NHC-710, a 4 semester-hour course.

Acupressure:  Traditional Chinese medicine believes that illness results from something either interfering with the flow of energy or creating an imbalance in different bodily organs.  Using finger pressure on certain points on the body, hands, ears or feet that correspond to points on the energy pathways unblocks or redirects the energy flow.

The first day of the course will begin the day that you notify me that your textbook has arrived and you are ready to begin your studies. Please be cognizant of the time frame. It is rare that extensions of time are permitted, unless you have good justification. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded four semester hours or credit.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, the student will have become familiar with the aspects mentioned in the COURSE CONTENTS and confident in the usage of acupressure techniques.  The student will learn about using Acupressure techniques as a healing modality to care for his/her own health, family's health, or start an acupressure health career. Although the course comes with a certificate of completion, it is not a certification course. It is designed to teach the science and philosophy of acupressure. The knowledge offered by the course is excellent, but it does not include acupuncture techniques. Acupuncture should not be practiced by an untrained person.  Acupuncture schools that offer extensive education and training programs typically involve approximately 3,000 credit hours, and of course, are much more expensive than this course.

In this course, each student will be expected to read the entire coursebook during the span of the course.  In addition to the required reading assignment, the course project assignment will include performing actual acupressure techniques with the purpose of relieving certain ailments. To ensure that learning is as simple and effective as possible, all course content is clearly presented in easy-to-understand terms.  An open-book proficiency examination is required.  The minimum passing score is 70%.  Upon purchase of the course, you will be given the link to the exam webpage.
