Introduction

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to Graduate Project/Thesis NHC 750, a 12 semester-hour course. This Thesis is an independent course project which will allow you to demonstrate expertise in the selected area[s] of research. The course is designed to increase your knowledge base in the Natural Health field, as well as to refine writing, organization and presentation skills. Self-direction and initiative must be displayed in completing the thesis assignment. It is the final course in the Masters Degree Natural Health Care & Wellness Consulting program.

Upon enrolling in the Masters Degree Natural Health Care & Wellness Consulting program, each student was required to take the Natural Health Care I NHC 510 course. Part of the course assignment was to write a 5-page single-space research paper on one of the following topics. The thesis for this course will be a continuation of that research paper. Research may include reading from textbooks, professional books, journals, and interviewing Natural Health practitioners. You may write on any combinations of the topics listed. The total number of pages for this thesis is 15 single-space typewritten pages. Include bibliography and statistical data when possible. Writhing the thesis is the only assignment required for this course.

•  How long-term nutritional deficits have caused chronic and age-related health issues for the elderly, including the effectiveness of conventional treatments.

•  Natural Medicine Vs Conventional Medicine and its impact on western culture and our future health care.

•  Federal and state legislature governing alternative medicine.

•  Alternative medicine addresses the many health issues that face women in the 21 st century

•  Alternative medicine addresses the many health issues that face men in the 21 st century

•  Discuss your concept of wellness with specific aspects of maintaining a holistic and healthy life balance.

•  The history of alternative medicine.

TIME FRAME: This is a twelve-semester hour course. This course is allotted 16 weeks of time. You may accelerate, but may not complete this course in less than four weeks. The first day of the course will begin the day that I am notified of your enrollment. Please be cognizant of the time frame. It is rare that extensions of time are permitted, unless you have good justification. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded twelve semester hours or credit.

TEXTBOOK: There is NO required textbook for this course.

COURSE ASSIGNMENTS AND EXAMINATIONS: A 15-page single-spaces typewritten thesis, including the bibliography and statistical data when possible, is the only assignment required for this course.

EXAMINATIONS: There are no examinations for this course; grades are based on successful completion of the thesis.

EVALUATION AND GRADING COMPOSITION: The thesis will consist of 15 single-space typewritten pages. It will be graded on content, research effort, resources utilized, originality, delivery, grammar, writing skills, organization, syntax, spelling and overall professionalism. It should adequately reflect your knowledge in the chosen topic.

GRADING: The grading scale for this course is as follows:

91-100%    = A
81-90%      = B
71-80%      = C
Below 70% = Failed
