This examination
focuses on an introduction to nursing theory and the application
of theory to professional nursing practice. You are expected to
have an understanding of what nursing theory is and why nursing
theory is important. The successful completion of this competency
examination will be evidenced by a passing score of 70% or above.
The examination will cover fully the content in the selected text
below that is recommended for study/review.
This examination
contains objective-type questions in essay format.
The recommended text
for reviewing for the examination is:
Book 1: Introduction to Theory and Reasoning in Nursing current edition. Johnson, Betty M. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins: ISBN # 0-781748429.
This competency
examination is worth five semester hours of college credits for
the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program.
You must achieve at
least a 70% score to pass this module.
The grading scale
for this course/paper is:
90%-100% = A
89%-80% = B
79%-70% = “PASS”
Below-70% = Fail
You have four hours to complete this examination.
The examination is taken online at the University web site.
