SYLLABUS

EXAM OVERVIEW: This examination focuses on health and nursing assessment of all age groups and stages of development. It is a comprehensive examination with emphasis on health history taking and complete physical assessment/examination. A suggested text is provided for review. The review text includes case studies to allow the student to better review the materials and prepare for the examination. All body systems are detailed in this examination. The examination also covers history and physical assessment of special patient populations.

TYPE OF QUESTIONS: This examination contains objective- type questions, including multiple choice and true/false.

NUMBER OF QUESTIONS: This examination contains 200 questions.

TEXTBOOK: The recommended text for reviewing for the examination is:

CREDIT HOURS: This competency examination is worth seven semester hours of college credits for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program.

PASSING SCORE: You must achieve at least a 70% score to pass this examination.

GRADING SCALE: The grading scale for this competency examination is:

90%-100%   = A
89%-80%     = B
79%-70%     = “PASS”
Below-70%   = Fail

TIME LIMIT & ADMINISTRATION OF EXAM: You will have four hours to complete this examination. The examination is taken online at the university web site.

EXAM RE-TAKES: If a score of 70% is not achieved on the examination, you will have an opportunity to complete independent study course work to receive credits.
