This examination focuses on the care of patients in acute and chronic care settings. Competency evaluation is focused on a systems review with emphasis on patho-physiology and nursing care and practice. This examination covers systems, patho-physiology and nursing care of clients with disturbances in: the renal system, reproductive system, neurological system, perioperative, eye, ears and nose and mental/behavioral health care. Questions evaluate the student's knowledge to provide care for both acute and chronic disturbances, including nursing assessment, care planning, interventions and pharmacological treatment. Medical and Surgical nursing care is evaluated related to the above systems. This examination includes some content related to critical care nursing practice. This examination contains objective- type questions, including multiple choice and true/false.
This examination contains 150 questions.

This competency examination is worth ten semester hours of college credits for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program.
You must achieve at least a 70% score to pass this examination.
The grading scale for this competency examination is:
90-100% = A
89-80% = B
79-70% = "PASS"
Below-70% = Fail
You will have five hours to complete this examination. The examination is taken online at the university web site.
If a score of 70% is not achieved on the examination, you will have an opportunity to complete independent study course work to receive credits.
