The content of
this competency examination focuses on an introduction to health
promotion in professional nursing practice. Upon successful completion
of this examination, you will be able to articulate the basic knowledge
relative to health promotion and disease prevention theory with
direct application to professional nursing practice. Health promotion
and disease prevention will be evaluated across the life span with
application to various patient populations. Successful completion
of this examination requires a passing score of 70% or above.
This examination
contains objective type questions in essay format.

This competency
examination is worth five semester hours of college credits for
the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program.
You must achieve at
least a 70% score to pass this module.
The grading scale
for this course/paper is:
90%-100% = A
80%-89% = B
70%-79% = “PASS”
Below-70% = Fail
You will have four hours to complete this examination.
The examination is taken online at the University web site.
If a score of 70%
is not achieved on this examination, you will have opportunity to
complete independent study course work to receive credits.

3). Analyze health promotion across the life span.
4). Develop an appreciation for health promotion among vulnerable
populations.
5). Articulate how to plan health promotion plans.
6). Develop an appreciation for stress management theory.

9). Explore health promotion within the community setting.
