The content of
this course focuses on an introduction to nursing research. You
are expected to have developed a basis understanding of : (1) the
research process, (2) various designs for nursing research, (3)
how research data is collected, (4) various means of analyzing data
and (5) how to critic and utilize nursing research.
The evaluation
of your knowledge relative to this subject matter will be evaluated
through the completion of an examination. The examination will be
an essay format. You will select and then answer 10 of fifteen essay
questions listed in the classroom for this course. You will have
a total of four hours to complete this examination.
Successful completion
of the course will be evidenced by a score of 70% on the examination.
If you do not achieve a score of 70% will be able to re-take the
examination. The second examination will include a second essay
exam. You will be expected to answer a new set essay questions which
will be administered individually by me.

This course is worth
10 semester hours of college credits for the Bachelor of Science
in Nursing degree program.
You must achieve at
least a 70% score to pass this module.
The grading scale
for this course/exam is:
90%-100% = A
80%-89% = B
70%-79% = “PASS”
Below-70% = Fail

3). Understand the application of theoretical frameworks relative
to nursing research.
4). Understand qualitative and quantitative research designs.
5). Evaluate data collection methods for nursing research.
6). Evaluate measurements and quality of data collected.
7). Describe how to analyze qualitative and quantitative data.
8). Understand how to critique research.
9). Understand how to apply nursing research to clinical practice.
