This
course, the dissertation project course, is offered as part of
the Ph.D program in organizational psychology. This course serves
two main purposes. The first is that the course serves to further
your knowledge of a very important segment of organizational psychology,
such as consultation or workforce motivation, and secondly, it
further gives you the chance to enhance your learning in the program.
The class itself will consist of a very specific guided project
with myself monitoring the entire process. The actual project
is decided by you, but I must approve all steps and the paper
must follow very specific guidelines that will be noted in the
assignment section of the classroom. This project can take on
several different shapes depending on your plan for the future.
This
is a twenty-semester hour course. This course is allotted ten
weeks of time, but can be extended to thirty weeks. Each week
begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday. There will be no deviation
from this unless specified by me ahead of time. Any deviation
must be approved before hand and the only excuses are death or
serious illness. Upon successful completion of this course, you
will be awarded twenty semester hours of credit and, most importantly,
your degree titled: Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Psychology.
You
are not required to purchase any textbook per se for this course,
but it is required that you use some sort of specific format for
the course. The accepted format for this type of writing is APA.
The newest APA guide is fifth edition and is available at any
college or online bookstore (see selections below). This is a
required format for this course so please make sure you get your
copy quickly. You should have used this during your program so
hopefully you already have it.
Once enrolled in the class, you are provided full guidelines for
completing your dissertation.
Complete all regular courses within the program before beginning
Doctoral Project or Dissertation.
You must submit all assignments
on time as listed in the assignment section of the classroom.
Other interactions are encouraged, but not necessary. Late assignments
will result in point deductions as noted above. This is not my
only class. Questions need to be properly labeled and signed.
The only requirements for attendance are the assignment deadlines
given in the classroom.
There are 100 total points available for the class.
The
grading scale for this course is as follows:
90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
Below 70% = Fail
Please note that anything below C is considered
failing for this course!
The
professor for this course is Kenneth "Micheal" Townsend,
Ph.D.
Upon registration, you will be given my e-mail address. I am available
periodically through e-mail, so please e-mail me any questions
that may occur. That is why I am here. I will do everything to
help you as much as possible. Please do not wait until the end
of the class to try to get help. It will be too late. Anytime
your grade falls below C, I will try to contact you about it.
If I do not, please do not hesitate to contact me through e-mail.
