SYLLABUS

COURSE OVERVIEW: This Paralegal Practicum is a Bachelor Level course in the curriculum for the Degree of Bachelor of Paralegal Studies. This course is the final step in receiving your Bachelor degree.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook ranks Paralegals among the 20 fastest growing occupations throughout the next decade. You stand at the doorstep of a demanding field that requires both a strict attention to detail and a keen eye for seeing the big picture. This course will reinforce all of your paralegal studies to date with a focus on practical applications. This course will also focus on career strategies.

It's no doubt that you have worked hard to get to this point. Congratulations on reaching this final step in your education.

TIME FRAME: This is a twelve-hour course and is allotted ten weeks to complete. You must complete all requirements by the end of the ten-week period. The first day of the course will begin the day that you register for the course or in the alternative, the day that you notify the instructor that you are in receipt of the textbook and are ready to begin the class. Please pay attention to the time frames listed in the syllabus for this course. It is rare that an extension to complete this course will be granted therefore, you should complete all assignments and/or exams on time and submitted to the instructor upon completion. Upon successfully completing all requirements of this course, you will be awarded twelve semester credit hours towards your Bachelors degree.

EXAMINATIONS: There will be several weekly assignments required as well as one final examination for this course. The assignments and the final examination cover the material found in the text.

GRADING: The grading scale for the course is as follows:

90-100%    - A
80-89%      - B
70-79%      - C
Below 70% - Fail

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR: I, Jennifer Sullivan, Esq., currently instruct in the Paralegal Studies program at Breyer State University. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Northeastern University and a Law Degree from Suffolk University Law School. I am currently licensed to practice law in two states. I have practiced in several area of law throughout my career. My interests include gourmet cooking, collecting cookbooks and fitness. I have completed 3 marathons in the last five years.
