SYLLABUS

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to Project Planning. A project is a one-time job that has a definite starting point, definite ending point, clearly defined scope of work, a budget, and is multitask in nature.

This course covers the techniques that produce real-world project management success, including maintaining control of multiple simultaneous projects, dealing with the 'people' issues in project teams, and developing a feasible project methodology, and how to view projects from all angles and use problem-solving skills.

TIME FRAME: This is a five-semester hour course. This course is allotted ten weeks of time. You must complete all of the requirements for the course successfully by the end of the ten-week period. The first day of week one will begin the day that you register for the course, or the day which you notify me that your textbook has arrived and you are ready to begin your studies. Please be cognizant of the time frame. It is rare that extensions of time are permitted, unless you have good justification. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded five semester hours of credit.

TEXTBOOKS: There is one (1) textbook for this course:

Book 1: Project Planning, Scheduling and Control-Fourth Edition. James P. Lewis. ISBN # 0-07-146037-3.

EXAMINATIONS: There are two examinations for this course, a mid-term exam and a final exam.

The mid-term examination must be taken by the end of the fifth week in the course. The final examination must be taken by the tenth week in the course.

Both examinations are programmed and are located in the classroom for this course. The examinations are "Multi-Choice" type. However, I may ask you to write a narrative that supports your answers.

In order to access the exams, you will need to send me an e-mail for a prior authorization, user ID and PASSWORD. From the day you will be authorized to access your exam, you will only have three days to complete your exam and submit your answers.

The program provides me the exact date and time you accessed the exam. The program also notifies me of the exact date and time you submitted your answers. Thus, the program is timing you. When you are ready, go back into the classroom and click in your responses and then click submit. Shortly, you will receive the exam in your email box with your computed score. You will also know what questions, if any, that you missed, and what the correct answer is. I too receive this copy of your exam and your score.

GRADING: The grading scale for this course is as follows:

90-100%    = A
80-89%      = B
70-79%      = C
Below 70% = Fail
