Leon Barrett, EdD


I have been an educator for over thirty-eight years.  During that time I have taught elementary and secondary school students, and adults at various levels. For over five years, I have been the instructor for two online courses, namely, Philosophy of Education and Foundations of Education in the Masters of Science in Education program. I have also been a mentor, coach and tutor to students at both the secondary and tertiary levels. In summer 2009 I co-wrote the English Creole International Language curriculum for one of Ontario’s district school board adult and continuing education department.

General interests: Teacher education and instructional practices in the classroom; the use of theory, philosophy of education and ideology in teaching; curriculum development; foundations of education.

Current interests:
Reflection, teacher behaviors and student outcomes; educational change and the classroom teacher; literacy and the elementary school child; analysis of instruction; computer applications in the classroom; philosophy of education; assessment and evaluation and student achievement.
