Over 25 years writing and researching; 15 years legal practice; 10 years as an editor and six years as a legal editor with Lexis Publishing; and over a year as a newspaper reporter/photographer, for The Mountain Connection, Evergreen CO, and Ute Pass Courier/Gold Rush newspapers, two of the Colorado Community Newspapers family.
I reside in the mountains of South Central Colorado, in Colorado 's Gold Country, near Cripple Creek ("World's Greatest Gold Camp") and Victor ("City of Mines ). I live on an old mining claim, with nine alpacas, three LGDs (livestock guardian dogs--a Great Pyranees, a Caucasian Mountain Dog and a Central Asian Shepherd), one mutt, eight ducks, and two pygora goats (pygmy angora crosses).
I received my J.D. from University of Denver College of Law in 1989. D.U. Law Review 1987-89. I have a certificate in mediation.
I served as a Congress on World Affairs moderator in 1997 ( Univ. of Colorado in Boulder , held each April).
I have served on numerous boards and commissions, including CO Dept. Of Agriculture roundtables.
I am a founding member and officer of Small Alpaca Farms of America and The Colo. Wildlife Alliance.
I have been a board member and officer of Prospect Home Health Care/Hospice, Colorado Environmental Coalition and CEC's Wildlife Issues Steering Committee, Animal Orphanage, First Baptist Church ( Brighton CO ).
I was general counsel to Hamlett Spay/Neuter Clinic (2001-2003) and a member of the Supervisory Committee of the Sunrise Credit Union ( Loveland CO ) (1996-1999).
I have served on the Grievance and Professionalism Committees of the Colo. Bar Assn.
I currently serve on the Teller County CO Planning Commission (2000 - ).
My passions, in addition to my animals, my writing, and the law, include conservation, environmentalism and volunteerism. |
