Created a free publication geared toward college students in the
Washington, DC and Maryland college markets (circulation 15,000).
Publication was supported by advertising revenue from college-oriented
businesses. Generated sales through direct marketing and cold-call
selling. Established publishing and distribution systems. Responsible
for all phases of business operation including planning, marketing,
finance, and expansion into other campus markets.
Atlantic Computer Training (Proprietary
Computer School)
Built one of the most widely utilized computer schools in central
Maryland. Atlantic Computer Training was sponsored for Better Business
Bureau membership, and was nominated for the Small Business Administration's
Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 1991.
The Career Development of Entrepreneurs
Conducting research on the subject of the career development process
of entrepreneurs. Studying the use of popular assessments such as
the MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory for predicting successful
entry into an entrepreneurial career. Developing an assessment that
can be used as a precursor to entrepreneurial training programs.
Career Services for Non-Traditional
Business Students
Conducted research on the provision of career services, interning,
and job-placement for on- and off-campus full-time, part-time, distance,
and executive MBA students for Regent University's Graduate School
of Business.
For-Profit Providers of Higher Education
As part of a graduate-level research project in higher education
administration, prepared a descriptive paper characterizing, and
supporting the development of, for-profit colleges and universities.
Distance Education Models
As part of a graduate capstone internship, conducted qualitative
research on the role of distance and distributed learning in higher
education, especially for the MBA student. Developed a model for
the creation and design of branch campuses for Regent University's
Graduate School of Business.
